The River Fruin!
The River Fruin is the other main river, located on the west side of Loch Lomond. Over the years the river has developed a great reputation for providing first class Salmon and Sea Trout fishing.
Recently it has seen a resurgence in Salmon numbers and the size of the fish can be quite remarkable for a spate river. The L.L.A.I.A have most of the fishing on the Fruin. The Fruin is fly only and provides true spate river fishing so being at the right place at the right time is paramount to success.
Fly Fishing the Fruin
This river only requires a single handed fly rod. When clearing after a spate a General Practitioner or Ally's Shrimp, tied on a size 10 treble can be productive.
We have created an interactive map of the Fruin on Google maps. Simply click on one of the points of interest to see tips on various pools, access to the river and even where to park your car.
You can use the + and - buttons on the left hand side to zoom in and out for more detail.
